Hi,Simon,

Thank you for your reply.

I have downloaded “Kicad-4.0.0.tar.xz” I believe this the latest Kicad.

I then extracted it and put it all in folder “kicad-4.0.0” in the home directory.

One of the files called “INSTALL.txt” I opened and found see below.

“ Installation from binary packages for Linux

-------------------------------------------

KiCad can be installed in '/usr' or '/usr/local'. You must have "root" access for installation.

cd /

tar -xjf kicad-{version}.tbz2

tar -xjf kicad-doc-{version}.tbz2

tar -xjf kicad-library-{version}.tbz2

The main program is '/usr/bin/kicad'. “

What does this mean?

OS is debian 8.2

The old Kicad on the system is BZR 4027 should I remove this before I do anything?

The old Kicad is in /USR/SHARE/KICAD and one file in /USR/BIN

I have a multi core machine “Asrock 880GHM-LE/USB3”

Can you help me install this Kicad please.

Re last Email;

In the print screen on R/H side;

Under Copper layers Tick is on “B.cu”

Under Technical layers;

All the ones starting with a “B” are ticked.

All the ones ending with “user & cuts” are ticked.

Is this correct?

Regards

Ike
