No. That serves the functional purpose, but not the aesthetic one. A disabled menu item conveys to the user that it is not available for use, so disabling the currently active item says exactly the opposite of what it should: not "OpenGL is currently in use, so you can't switch to it" but rather "OpenGL is unavailable for you to use".
An acceptable solution fulfills *both* purposes: it only allows the user to make valid selections, and explains to the user what those selections actually are.
