I just merged GAL-ification and Modernization of the PageLayoutEditor. It’s got one problem that I’m not making much traction on: if you zoom in so that some of the layout is clipped, it all disappears. Can someone with experience in this stuff give me a hint?
(I’m not attached to it. If you want to just go ahead and fix it that would be great too.)
