Please. Take a look at current symbols with 300mil pin length. Have you
see the awfulness of it?
The pin length could be:
1. 100mil for discrete devices: diodes, capacitors, resistors; because
they usually doesn't have any pin numbers (or pin names).
2. 150mil for IC's designed as "black-box"; because 150mil is enough
even for pin numbers greater than "99" or BGA pin numbering encoded by
pair of characters and digits.
3. Variable for IC's symbols with various shapes, for ex. triangle in
op-amp or power amplifiers.
