I am not 100% certain about it. However, the current group is set up so that new users' posts are initially moderated by me. That makes it easy to stop spam but alarge amount of spam would give me a problem. That said I think Gmane can be set up so people cannot post direct to this group. I definitely want to avoid unnecessary work. OTOH geds is already on Gman and there are lots of good posts. I could not find any spam. We could possibly trial it first.
