Oh, boy! KiCad is a bit buggy in this area. I would suggest editing the component libraries themselves, which is what I have resorted to doing, though I am now doing it with my text editor. Note that when you copy a component it loses the revised field names, though not the data. I think there should be the means of setting the definition for those fields globally across an entire sheet or hierarchy. You may want to see my previous posts on this topic. apluscw
