I'm very aware of SwitcherCAD, and have more than 25 years experience of using Spice and similar software in an analogue and radiofrequency/microwave circuit design environment. While I'm happy to accept that the web site rather underplays it's usefulness, QUCS has features which I find very attractive. Certainly, like any software, it has weaknesses, but it also has its strengths. As an example, it's one of the very few Open Source circuit design packages to allow the use of Harmonic Balance analysis. Of course, it also runs under Linux, which suits my attitude to computing!
