Hello group: I just downloaded and installed the windows xp version of kicad along with the 3d viewer suggested, and the documentation pdf's (not sure what they are for yet).
I am impressed with Kicad, thanks are in order for what so far seems to be a very professional application for sch drawing and CB manufacturer. I have been looking for an application to refresh myself with CAD. After looking over many, this one seems to be 'the one' that will allow me to be familiar with any professional application that may be presented in the industry while job hunting. Many years ago, I used CAD in the lab of a very well known Institute. This was back in the middle to late 80's, so it has been a while and many things are still familiar, yet many things have changed in the world of CAD all together for electronics design. I will be playing with it to become familiar as I begin my voyage with you all discovering its uses and nuances as we proceed. Thank you for having me as a member of the group.
