Thanks for your reply. I had already tried what you suggested, but the
limitation is kicad, not freerouter, as kicad only exports one class for
tracks ("default"). That means freerouter needs the default-default
clearance to be set to 6 thou otherwise it can't connect default traces
to adjacent pins on the MLF. If default-default is set to 6 thou, then
the whole board is done with 6 thou clearance :(.
Dick says he has posted details of how to edit the DSN file so a board
can have more than one track class, and I intend to look into that and
post back.
It would be nice to solve this one, because the freerouter autorouter is
impressive. Usually I find autorouters give up at about ninety
something percent complete and leave you with a pile of spaghetti to
sort out, but what I've seen so far from freerouter looks almost like it
was manually routed by someone who knows what they're doing.
