[kicad-users] part and footprint for solder connection

My first design is a simple adapter which will be hard-wired to one end of a 
cable. What is an appropriate symbol (in the schematic) and footprint (in the 
pcb layout program) for such a connection? Yes, I know the footprint depends on 
the size of the wire, I'm just looking for the generally accepted approach to 
making this connection. Thanks!
