It happens regardless of what I call them, even if I do not name them at 
all. In many analog circuits you cannot directly connect a power port, 
you need to provide some chips with their own little RC filters, 
regulators and whatnot. On battery-operated circuits they are sometimes 
even switched by, for example, a uC plus P-channel FET.

That's why it is crucial that all A-units remain where they are. The 
annotation routine can rename U2A into U5A but it should never rename it 
to, for example, U5B. I may be wrong but my impression is that this 
distinction (treat A-units differently than all others) is missing in 
Kicad. If that's true I would not be able to switch to Kicad.
