Sorry Dick - I'm a newb here, and in fact a newb to forum postings in general.

The version that PCBnew reports is '20090216-final', and I downloaded it from a 
link at SourceForge. The URL is 
"http://iut-tice.ujf-grenoble.fr/cao/KiCad-2009-02-16-final-WinXP_autoinstall.zip";.

Actually, I hadn't thought to grab a recent build from SVN, although I've done 
so in the past with good results. I'm a little brain-addled from too many late 
nights and 18-hour days, I guess! I'll try a 'bleeding edge' snapshot and see 
how it behaves. Thanks for the feedback.
