Further to my last post, I think I've just figured out what on Earth is going on here. The problem is that the Cancel button is not working correctly on the Component footprint dialog box (and possibly others). If I, for example, select Edit Component...Footprint from the context menu, enter a value, and hit OK, the footprint will be added correctly. If I then select Edit Component...Footprint, I can view the value I recently typed in. If I hit OK the component will retain its footprint, but if I hit Cancel the footprint name will be deleted. That's not how Cancel is supposed to work! Can anyone confirm this?
