I assume that you are adding the lib (the part) in eeschema, and the mod
file in PCBNew. The terms can get a bit confusing sometimes...

Where did you get the lib and mod from. I have come across the
situation where a error in the conversion from some other system cause
the file to get messed up, and that can cause things to hang. If you
look at the file with a text editor you can usually spot where a line
has broken across two lines.

If the lib and module are of your own creation then you should not have
a problem.
