The latest version of kipy (Python tools for KiCAD) supports Windows as well as Linux, and has been tested under Python 2.5 as well as 2.6.
A major enhancement is that, if you have created a .net file in kicad format, it can now sanity-check the .net against the .sch and report any discrepancies. Download from kipy.org. Pat
