If Iwe well understood, your method is : 1. On the existing project add a subsheet and copy the blocs you want to this new sheet 2. Exit the existing project and copy the subsheet file to the new project directory 3. Open this sheet and then copy the blocs to your new project Is that right ? I just create the new subsheet at the top, which will create a blank schematic page, exit kicad, and then copy the preexisting stuff over the new sheet. It's really quite simple; Kicad doesn't have any hidden files -- with the .sch files, what you see is what you get.
