Thanks folks.
I have DRC turned on but I had ratnesting (global) turned off. When I turned 
that on I could see the unconnected nets.

My past experience (long time ago now) was that it was possible to list in an 
ascii file, unconnected nodes from the PCB layout.

I guess this does not exist in Kicad.
