when will the synaptic package manager kicad version be somewhat upto date? It seems that would be the easiest way to have it work.
I am running ubuntu 10.04 64 bit. on my new laptop and hit e to modify the acpi=ht option so it does not fuss and crash because of the PCI or power management it is eather that or acpi=off I thought the hyperthread option at least gave me something. But the unzipped and permitions ok and executable kicad file does not apear to do anything.
