I recently updated Kicad to the 2010-05-05 BZR 2356 build. I found that my custom fields (power rating, part number, tolerance, ...) on the components no longer appear properly on the component properties. The first two custom field values would show up on the Footprint and Datasheet fields. The field names for the first two fields would not show up on the field list.
Further testing shows that any fields with blank value on a component would not get read properly. It would read the field name then use the next field value as its value. A workaround is to fill the empty field with ~. But that means I have filled in ~ to the Footprint and Datasheet fields of every component in every library!
