Here is my attempt at an answer . . .
This could take a long time, but I shall attempt to start by listing a few
scriptures. Just to let you know, I am in the process of reading the
whole Bible from front to back. I have studied it a lot, but I have never
read it systematically. Well, from my studies, here are some of my
ponderings . . ..
When we die we go to heaven. Are you sure? The bible also says other
things. For example, there are several scriptures that talk about our
"inheriting the earth" and being created to live on the earth (Ps
37:11,22,29; Prov 2:21,22; Isa 45:18; Matt 5:5; Rev 21:3,4). If God is
perfect, according to the christian Bible, why would he change his plan?
The Bible says that God does not change his mind (Isa 55:11; Num 23:19;
Isa 46:10,11; Heb 6:13,17; Joshua 23:14). If so, then we must examine
what it means when it talks of going to heaven. Well, to be explained
later, I will tell you that not one person who died before the Christ
would have gone to heaven. The Christ Jesus was Jewish from the time he
was born until the time he died. When he died, he changed the way of
things (Rev 5:9,10). That is why he is called the firstborn from the dead
-- "He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that he might become
the one who is first in all things" (Col 1:18). Check Job 14:13; John
5:28,29; Acts 24:15; and John 11:23,24. In each case, there is a comment
about the resurrection from death. In no case did anyone consider a
resurrection to heaven until Jesus had died. Only then was there a change
(Rev 5:9,10; Luke 22:28-30; John 14:2,3; Rev 7:4,9-14; 14:1-3; 1 Cor
15:35,38,42-45; 1 Peter 3:18).
So, today, we either go to heaven or will simply die and have the
resurrection to look forward to. Now, this is a REALLY simplified version
of this idea. There is a great deal more to say on the subject . . . but
i didn't have time.
For a thought on the soul . . . refer to Ezekiel 18:4, Genesis 3:19, Psalm
146:4, and Ecclesiastes 9:5,10. When a human dies, all of his thoughts
and consciousness are gone. He is no more.
Hmmm . . . well, I have rambled about that one point and totally forgotten
the others. Well, I must go to bed now. Will talk more later.
In need of staying away rom studying for a long time,
Scot

<snip>I do however have a question or two, When we die we go to heaven
(the words found in the bible)?, and that some will be resurrected in life
(again words from the bible)??? could you elaborate on this for me from
your views? Please?
I still read the bible even if the words mean different things for me, I
will elaborate on this only if asked.
**Okay, I am asking . . . what do you believe about the Bible?
Those questions and more where what got me evicted from the church I was
considered evil for question and looking for answers in our small new
england city.
**I applaud you for asking the right questions. If you can think of the
questions, there must be an answer to them. Just keep an open mind and
think of the logic.

Dear Lois
To try and answer your questions I will say if you are saved you will
indeed enter heaven. Now I think when Scott was talking about
resurrection, I think...... { correct me if i am wrong } he was talkin
about divine resurrections.
**umm . . . you are wrong. Sorry Spacoli. I will get back to that later
. . .
I know you are probably wondering what i've been smokin but let me
explain. All men must die and die only once {Hebrews 9:27}. Some men have
not died.... yet. Enoch {Genesis 5:24} and Elijah {II Kings 2:11} have yet
to die. So it is of popular belief that they come to the earth again as
the two witnesses{ Revelation 11:1-13}. I could be wrong and if i am study
the scriptures and you will find you answers.

Daniel,
You missed the point I was trying to make I dont study the bible as
you do, altho i do read it. I wanted each opinions of it. For you see I
am Pagan, and the resident parent on this list. No i will not try to
convert you. Now all you need do is ask my baptist son
Hans..............I mean what more do you get from the passages other than
scripture that you can quote?
**The Bible is what leads me down each path that I take. It is my life .
. . so to say. I am trying to read the whole thing and study it and live
by it. No, I am not doing this well, but I am trying. A man, Ghandi,
once talked about the Sermon on the Mount. He said that it was the best
way to live . . . that if we all would just try to live by it, then the
world would be a better place. Well, that is my goal . . . to make the
world a better place (one smile at a time).
Does it mean something special or are they just words you throw at the
world???
I will shut up now for here i go again being evil and questioning all
things and that is not my intent.....
I only wish you to be honest with yourself to feel the faith you
practice.
