  Telah  kita ketahui bersama bahwa eksploitasi sumber daya alam khususnya 
hutan  beserta hasil-hasilnya secara besar-besaran telah menghasilkan berbagai  
kerusakan terhadap ekosistem dan kehidupan manusia. Bencana demi  bencana yang 
datangpun disinyalir salah satunya adalah akibat kerusakan  hutan serta 
pengelolaannya yang tidak benar. Salah satu isu paling  anyar abad ini adalah 
mengenai pemanasan global yang juga diakibatkan  tingginya akumulasi CO2 di 
udara sementara rendahnya penyerapan oleh  hutan.     
    Kaitannya  dengan hal tersebut, maka pengelolaan yang tepat untuk 
lingkungan  tempat tinggal manusia (Humanosphere) ini menjadi sangat penting. 
Untuk  itu, Research and Development Unit for Biomaterials-LIPI, Research  
Institute for Sustainable Humanophere (RISH), dan Center for South East  Asian 
Studies (CSEAS), yang disupport oleh Kyoto University dan G-COE Program, 
mengundang rekan-rekan, Dosen dan seluruh civitas untuk dapat menghadiri
