Position: HP-UX Admin. Location: Columbus Ohio Duration: 6 Month The existing HP-UX environment consists of four (4) production servers, three (3) test (quality assurance) servers, three (3) CRM servers, and five (5) development/disaster recovery servers. All the environments operate in clustered configurations. The State is seeking a senior level HP-UX system administrator to support knowledge transfer, mentoring, training and provide necessary documentation to sustain an HP-UX operations within ISD. This person must have good communication and team building skills. Scope of Work The vendor resource selected for this project will work with state resources and assist in mentoring and providing technical knowledge transfer for these state resources in the UNIX environment. The selected resource will be required to review existing environments, storage allocations and SAN configurations; suggest and recommend process improvements; and apply consistency in operations between the Windows and UNIX platforms. The selected resource will provide daily and weekly status information of the environments and will assist in creating incident and problem reports as required. The selected resource will be on-call 24/7 to address any issue that arises. HOME LOCATION The vendor must indicate the candidate's home location and whether or not the candidate will require out-of-town travel to work at the OIT/ISD facilities. The State will not reimburse the vendor for any travel expenses associated with the candidate's travel to and from OIT/ISD facilities. Because this position includes 24/7 coverage, a local resource is strongly preferred. PROJECT SCHEDULE NOTE: OIT may extend this work in the State's FY09. The length of the extension will be based on current workload and schedule. Candidate Resume - any candidate proposed for this work must be a senior HP-UX professional and must have the following experience and expertise: A minimum of eight (8) years of experience as an HP-UX (OS and HP server hardware) systems administrator with responsibility for O/S security (including SUDO), patching, upgrades, installations and administration. Specific expertise with HP-UX version 11.23 and PA-RISC hardware. A minimum of five (5) years of experience with HP MC ServiceGuard. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in troubleshooting/root cause analysis in an HP-UX environment. A minimum of three (3) years of experience with Veritas Volume Manager. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with responsibility for training and mentoring other staff. A minimum of three (3) years of experience developing training and process documentation. A minimum of three (3) years of experience with performance monitoring and configuration using HP OpenView and/or Tivoli. A minimum of two (2) years of experience with HP Data Protector/OmniBack. A minimum of two (2) years of experience with HP EVA SAN and Brocade SAN switches.
