REQUIREMENT DETAIL: Role: UNIX/ Linux Admin Duration: 6 Months Location: Danbury, CT Rate: give me your least and best REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related field with 7 years experience; or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related field with 5 years of experience; or a Master in Computer Science, MIS, or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience; or relevant Business or IT experience of a minimum of 7 years. 5-8 years experience managing one or more Unix / Linux operating systems including (HP-UX, Sun Solaris, Red Hat Linux, CentOS, Debian and SUSE Linux) Strong Knowledge of HP N-Par and V-Par partitioning Knowledge of HP Virtual Server Environment (VSE) for HP Integrity is a must Strong Knowledge of HP Integrity servers hardware (rx2620, rx3600, rx7620 and rx8620), Proliant hardware (ML, DL and Blade servers P and C class models) and Sun Microsystems Sun Fire servers Strong knowledge of HP utilities and management tools (ILO, GSP, SIM and OVO) is a must Strong knowledge of HP Service guard clustering is a must Knowledge of Red Hat Clustering and support for GFS a plus. Red Hat Satellite Services and Kickstart experience a plus. Knowledge of Oracle a plus Backup / Recovery / Disaster Recovery (Legato Networker) is a plus. General knowledge of SAN Technologies and specific knowledge of EMC (CLARiiON, Symmetrix) and HP EVAs Storage Management and Administration including ECC are pluses. Knowledge of Cisco Networking Technologies is a plus Ability to technically manage and coordinate multiple large size projects Good interpersonal, and communication skills, ability to work in a team environment is a must. Excellent planning, organizing, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills. Effective Communications and Documentation in a compliance regulated environment Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Industry a plus. Some international travel may be required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work on complex projects and perform system planning, evaluations, and recommend strategy for the server and storage environments specifically in the HP/UX and Linux areas. Plan, install and manage enterprise clusters based on HP service guard and Red Hat Cluster software. Improve UNIX/Linux system performance through kernel and file system tuning. Define and create WIs (Working Instructions) for new hardware and software technology being deployed. Define and create upgrade processes for existing hardware and software. Troubleshoot and solve complex server problems in a complex network environment. Provide tier III UNIX/Linux operating system support to IT Infrastructure Operations Group. Establish monitoring and security procedures. Design, write and implement complex back-up procedures to restore files, disks or the complete UNIX/LINUX system. Design and implement disaster recovery procedures. Provide on call support based on rotational schedule for the IT Infrastructure Implementation, Server & Storage Technologies group (on call 24x7 group support). Interface with third party software and hardware vendors. Work with very little supervision with respect to scheduling and assignments of tasks with results and progress occasionally reviewed. Provide technical assistance to Unix Systems user community.
