NUCLEAR POWER: Looking to the future :
Abstract :
The demand energy is growing worldwide, and nowhere morethan in developing
countries. In many countris, nuclear power is being given renewed consideration
for a number of reasons.
Same are concerned about energy security, and want to diversity away from
fossil fuels. Many countries concerned about climatic change are choosing
nuclear power because it emits little to no greenhouse gas emissions.
And many have taken note of the sustained high safety performance of nuclear
power plants in recent decades as well as low fuel costs and operation costs.
Dr ElBaradei will examine these and other aspects that are likely to
influence the use of nuclear power in the coming decades. He will also discuss
action that the International Atomic Energy Atomic and others are taking to
address nuclear risks associated with safety, security and weapons
proliferation. And He will review aspect of infrastructure needed for country
embarking on a new nuclear programme.
