It seemed that my desktop mysteriously changes to GNOME, when in fact, I use KDE as default. Anyway, what I used to do to revert back was to delete the "configs" of KDE, then log back in, thus generating a fresh one. This was quite a hassle. Luckily, I found a better and a much more easier solution. I'm not really sure how this happened,but nautilus was running, probably because of that session management thing. So my solution is killing it, and my desktop was back to normal.
