Looking Glass wasn't opened until recently because Sun was thinking that
this could very well go against Vista's Aero or Apple's Aqua/Quartz, and
provide the glitzy GUI platform for its own OS line -- Solaris. However,
when Novell (and David Reveman) publicly released Xgl and then incorporated
it seamlessly with SLED 10, Sun did not see any reason to hide it any longer
thus Looking Glass going open source.
