i done it before. i used the Intel microcontroller for that project. it is a 
nice project to start with. you can try the Intel 8749 but i doubt if it is 
still available for this time. it could be much nicer if you can use the PIC 
controllers for it. in terms of cost and availability, PIC is the answer for 
that.
