The keyboard became standard peripheral to the PC for mainstream use in the 1980's (30 years), the mouse became common by 1990's (30 years) with the arrival of the GUI on the common PC desktop. The multitouch screen was conceptualized and developed relentlessly from 1970's-1980's, with a workable prototype by 1984. That means, the era of the multitouch for the desktop PC will not be far off.
