The Bogor declaration
The declaration :
1. Urged the US-led coalition forces to leave Iraq soon and called for their
replacement by peace-keeping forces from OIC. To realize the plan to deploy
Muslim forces in Iraq, a monitoring committee must be formed among Middle
Eastern countries,including Indonesia.
2.Urged Shi'ites and Sunnis in Iraq to be aware of slanderous acts by the
enemies of Islam.
3. Condemned terrorism and fanatism of all kinds,
4. Called on the warring factions in Iraq to shun bloodshed,
5. Called on the international community to seriously urge the rival groups in
Iraq to reconcile immediately.
6. Invited OIC to continue with its rehabilitation and reconstruction program
in Iraq,
7. Called on the United Nations, Arab League, and OIC to rebuild political
trust, security, economy and social-cultural life in Iraq.
8. Asked the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry, Nahdlatul Ulama and
Muhammadiyah organizations to disseminate the Bogor declaration among the
countries involved.
The two-day conference which was opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono
and closed by Vice President Jusuf Kalla was hosted by the Indonesian
government in cooperation with NahdlatulUlama.(***)
