Our Mosque is Burned Down": Constitution, Faith and One Hundred Years National
Awakening"
Since the 2005 re-fatwa of the Council of Indonesian Ulama (MUI) and the 2008
decision of Bakor Pakem (Badan Koordinasi Pengawasan Kepercayaan) on the
heretics of Ahmadiah , this minority Islamic group--- its schools, mosques,
offices and its followers-- has become severe targets of violence. The
government of Indonesia, represented by Bakor Pakem, is now boiling down a
political decision about the future of ahmadiah in Indonesia. This seminar will
discuss Ahmadiah case in Indonesia to throw light on the intricate relationship
and the future of faith and constitution in Indonesia after one hundred years
of national awakening.
