Background: L&I Information Services management has agreed to approve the Data Warehouse SQL Server 2008 Migration Project based upon two main points: one is the cost avoidance that will be gained by decommissioning our UNIX environment; and two, migrating to a Windows SQL Server 2008 environment will position the Data Warehouse (DW) to meet strategic goals in the future. This migration efforts scope includes 4 databases and approximately 1300 tables, and our migration completion date is scheduled to be January 31, 2010. Scope: Project Plan - Participate in determining impact of design changes to project plan. Review, comment, and buy in to updated project plan. Risk Assessment - On an as needed basis participate with the project manager on project risks assessments. Follow a Change/Control Process - Follow our process for managing issues and design changes throughout the entire contract using the Department's existing online Project Issue Tracking System., and version control software. Project Reporting - Complete monthly written and/or verbal status reports showing progress against the project plan, progress-to-date, planned tasks, potential issues, and any schedule variances. Communication Plan - Participate with the project manager as needed in reviewing/commenting on a communications plan for providing project information and status. Help identify frequency and method of communications. Data Warehouse architecture - Review and consult data warehouse architecture and database design to ensure the proposed architecture will successfully operate in L&I's environment and make appropriate recommendations. Detail design for each development task - Participate in review and update of system design. When necessary document design changes. Test Plans - Review, comment, and come to agreement on test approach. Develop and Test Programs - Design, develop, and unit test as assigned. Development work must comply to L&I system, programming, database standards, be easily and simply maintained, and use version control software. Participate in System Testing - All programs and database changes will be system tested with user participation prior to moving into production. Program testing results and customer acceptance is required for each of the enhancements. Create detail program and system documentation - Documentation will be created and kept current. Data models, program comments, program narrative and useful applicable agency standard documentation. Implementation Requirements - Help perform stress and performance testing with users. Help identify contingencies during implementation phase. Stabilization and Turnover - Participate in stabilization of application. Assist in the development of system maintenance documentation, provide application system training/knowledge transfer, conduct code reviews, and support to maintenance staff as necessary. Quality Assurance - Ensure each deliverable is functional and participate in quality review. Final Report - Participate with the project manager in completing a final report that provides a review of the project, identifies lessons learned, recommendations, and identify additional opportunities. The contractor’s concentration will be on assisting in reviewing our technical approach, documenting SQL Server data warehouse best practices, and designing, developing, and implementing our SQL Server 2008 Data Warehouse. Role 3: ------ TSS Code : 21009 Title : GIS Technical Lead Location : City of Richmond, VA Duration : 5 months Local candidates who can attend face to face interview are preferred. Description Ø We are seeking a GIS Technical Lead with four or more years of experience developing and editing geospatial data bases. Ø The successful candidate will have documented experience designing and building versioned geospatial databases in an ESRI SDE environment Ø Must be familiar with GIS core concepts, as well as linear referencing techniques and concepts. Ø Duties of the consultant : Ø will include designing and editing versioned geo-databases in an ESRI ArcGIS environment. Ø This will include taking a database through complete life cycle: design, development, QA/QC, release and maintenance. Ø The successful individual will demonstrate experience creating and maintaining FGDC compliant metadata; Ø will act as team leader and technical lead on VDOT Structure database; Ø provide first level maintenance of Automated Routing System; Ø and will demonstrate experience preparing user, operation and program documentation and providing guidance and training to end users. Ø Strong organizational, verbal and written communications skills; Ø demonstrated ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions with minimal guidance; Ø and the ability to work in a dynamic multi-tasking team environment are essential to be successful in this position.
