This is a data warehouse architect role in the application architecture and
development job family. Main responsibilities include responsibility of
architecting an Oracle Finance Data Warehouse, a large scale, global data
warehouse deployed on Oracle 10g RAC implementation, Informatica + Custom
Unix-based batch and intraday job streams that source data from various
systems, a custom .NET C# & C++ middleware that enables ad hoc user
queries, and OBI/EE as well as Excel-based and web-based front-end
applications.
Strategically define and implement data warehouses, data marts, and data
stores, while ensuring high levels of data availability.
Defining data standards and models for warehouse architectures.
Help evaluate and select optimal configuration of all infrastructure
components such as software, hardware, database management system and
networking capabilities.
Provide input in analyzing and consolidating business requirements across a
multitude of data sourcing projects to design a common dimensional data
model with conformed dimensions and facts.
Design partitioning and indexing strategies for large scale high performance
data warehouse.
`Perform volumetric analysis for capacity planning.
Employ best practices in data profiling and designing solutions for handling
data quality issues.
Required Skills:
Knowledge of fixed income, equity, listed derivatives, loans & deposits,
money markets, FX, and OTC products Relational data modeling best practices
Dimensional modeling (Ralph Kimball) Erwin Best practices in data warehouse
configurations and performance Desired Skills:
Knowledge of P&L reporting and financial accounting Partitioning and
indexing strategies in Oracle 10g or later version Query plan analysis
Personal Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills Clear communication and
documentation of technical specifications
Self-motivated
Team-player
Ability to multi-task
Tolerance for change
Background/Experience:
5 to 10 years of experience in a dimensional data modeling role in a
corporate environment College degree in computer science or comparable
quantitative field such as engineering, math, or science
