*Summary*



The Solutions Architect is responsible for leading the process of converting
business requirements into an architecture and design that will become the
blueprint for the solution being created. Solution Architects operate across
organizational areas, acting as visionaries to proactively assist in
defining project approach and design. They conceive solutions, build
consensus, and sell/execute solutions. Additional responsibilities may
include establishment of the overall architectural view, identification of
major system interfaces, development of module reuse on an enterprise-wide
scale and identification of existing architecture weaknesses and
opportunities for process reengineering. These professionals perform systems
analysis and design, system modeling, performance modeling, integration
planning and technology and component selection to ensure architectural
consistency and coherence between technical and business processes





*Responsibilities*



   - Identifying, documenting and communicating the technical approach and
   design for projects;
   - Analyzing the current architecture to identify weaknesses and develop
   opportunities for improvements such as expanding capacity, predictability,
   reducing time & cost, and increasing effectiveness; Driving efficiency
   through retirement and replacement, and multi-sourcing of systems suite;
   - Work in close partnership with the technical team, business and
   Enterprise Architects to align technical strategies to the business
   strategies;
   - Research and evaluate software/hardware products; Advise management of
   options, risk vs. cost, benefits and other impacts on solution decisions;
   design flexible and responsive technology architectures;
   - Utilize design patterns brought to bear from past experience and
   research, as well as through leveraging the collective experience within the
   Architecture Practice Center and the company; this includes a specific focus
   on SOA patterns, techniques and structures;
   - Establish technical standards and procedures;
   - Develop white papers on current and future architecture trends;
   - Communicate with, educate, and mentor others;
   - Other responsibilities as required.

*Qualifications:*

§          Solid leadership and influencing skills which balance creative
yet practical solutions for the businesses without compromising corporate
strategies and standards; demonstrate respect and a positive attitude, while
projecting a sense of calm and control under pressure situations.**

§           Strong verbal and written communication skills which can clearly
articulate complex concepts and ideas to all levels of the organization in
both technical and non-technical terms**

§          Analytical, conceptual and strategic thinking and planning**

§          Extensive knowledge of architecture principles, patterns and
methodologies;**

§          Analytical skills which effectively deal with conceptual and
tangible ideas along with attention to detail;**

§          Working knowledge of the IT development process and life cycle,
i.e. roles/responsibilities, tasks, milestones, deliverables;**

§          Team oriented with ability to work effectively with many
different people across many diverse organizations**

§          Ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects in a dynamic
environment (assignment-based organization) and manage time appropriately;**

§          Management skills, with the ability to plan, organize and
orchestrate activities such as JAD and review sessions; ability to identify
and manage risks and issues, including appropriate escalation when needed;**

§          Need to be a self-starter and able to work independently with
minimal supervision;**

§          *Bachelors Degree and 3 - 5 Years of Experience in technology
architecture.*

§          *Property & Casualty experience a plus;*

§          *Strong J2EE and SOA Experience required;*

§          *UML modeling experience leveraging industry design patterns;*

§          *Key technologies: Rules engine experience (e.g. PegaSystems
PegaRULES Solution), IBM Websphere Application Server, IBM Rational Software
Architect, IBM Rational Application Developer, PegaSystems PegaRULES
Solution, Adobe Flex 2.0, Visio, XML Spy; mainframe background a plus.*
