Job Description: Maintain 24x7 system availability / Monitor production
systems using unix software utilities and application level logs / Monitor
system resources, capacity, and usage including: Disk, Memory, CPU, Storage
Utilization, Application Processes, Application Connectivity / Notify Client
Tier 1 Support via email and on regularly scheduled cross-team call of any
potentially user impacting system issue / Write and maintain scripts to
monitor system activity, including application logs and processes / Manage
all scheduled application cron jobs / Troubleshooting with the use of
application logs / In depth use of application processes, interfaces and
protocols used for communication with interfacing systems / Manage and clean
file systems to enhance application performance / Create proactive and
reactive scripts to prevent or clear a problem before it occurs / Add
automation via scripts to replace manual processes / Application shut down
and restarts / Monitor all links/interfaces, adaptors, both upstream and
downstream / Create monitoring scripts when applicable, to augment corporate
monitoring tools / Proactively debug issues on UAT and Production servers to
provide a stable environment.
Technical Skills: Websphere/Weblogic / Mq Series / Unix / Shell Scripting /
Use of unix tools / Crontab entries / Solaris and AIX experience desired /
Experience working in a large scale production environment / Communication
skills / General Troubleshooting / General Networking knowledge / Knowledge
of apache based webservers and load balancer devices a plus / Previous work
with provisioning/assurance systems a plus / Ideal candidate will have 5+
years experience
Resource can work remotely. Also will be required to participate in after
hours on call rotations. Approximately 1.5 months or occasional. Resource
will be responsible for after hours coverage of the systems on a page out
basis only.
Add'l Info.: Attitude to do what it takes to resolve issues. Ability to
multi-task and simultaneously perform disparate actions at the same time.
