Duration: 12-24 Months No Of Positions: 6 Interview: Phone Screen will be followed by a Face to Face Description : Embedded Software Developer The Embedded software developer is the backbone of WTL activities. They are generalists with a strong background in *Platform Software* * with ability and expertise to write device drivers, applications and everything in between. They are open minded and possess a drive to learn new things in a very short time * to get things done. They will work with a team of like-minded mobile handset engineers to build advanced middleware components of a next generation wireless handset. Example middleware components are Messaging, Multimedia, Virtualization (micro-kernel), file-systems, dynamic-loading, COM, UI Frameworks, Databases, etc. Job Duties Design, enhance and maintain current and next-generation Samsung Platform Middleware Measure and characterize performance of one or more modules of the middleware, suitably improve performance as needed Develop abstractions to hide platform specific capabilities Write device drivers (LCD, USB, Touch, etc.) as needed Be the in-house Guru for one or more middleware components Knowledge (internals) of contemporary mobile platforms such as Symbian, Windows Mobile (CE), Linux-mobile, BREW, or equivalent Expertise in any one (or more) middleware components listed above (or equivalent) * the expectation is that the team will rely on the candidate as the in-house *Guru* for said component(s) Very strong design and abstraction skills * as it relates to programming, development of re-usable components etc. Experience in working with embedded systems, platforms and RTOS * at least one RTOS (Nucleus, pSOS, VxWorks, RT-Linux, REX etc.) Very strong embedded debugging skills * especially with a JTAG debugger Working knowledge of embedded hardware such as TI-OMAP, Marvell-StrongARM, SC64xx application processors Fluent in C/C++ programming (C++ preferred); ability to hand-code critical routines in optimal assembly language (ARM/Thumb) Masters degree in CS is desired, but not required Comments: We could use some assistance on strong embedded developers with C/C++ middleware/platform exp : Mobile Industry experience is a HUGE Plus : Experience in working with Mobile Platforms would be preferred: Google Android development experience is a MAJOR Plus as well. The Client needs someone coming from a good school. E.G. if from India they have a preference for IIT.
