A senior web developer with about 5 - 7 years experience is required to take on some lead responsibilities for production support and enhancement development for an application which automates data collection, calculation, and bill generation for retrospective adjustments of contracts. The system is currently in production. It has a complex web-based (Websphere 6.1) user interface and incorporates InetSoft report writing software which will also require support activities. In addition to Java skills, strong SQL (UDB environment) will be required. He will be working closely with the team's batch processing developers and with an off-shore support team that also provides user interface maintenance support. He will be actively involved with application deployment tasks. To be proficient, the developer must learn the existing code and data structures and also understand the interactions with the batch processing. Responsibilities: - Communicate with end-users to understand the problems they report and explain resolution to issues. - Provide analysis & solution options amongst peers for production support. - Develop new functionality for the application based on business priorities. - Collaborate with coworkers to understand a highly complex calculation engine. - Oversee code builds adhering to change management standards. - Provide clear & concise status updates to management. Education & Experience: - Bachelor of Science. Recent college graduates would be considered if they have had relevant experience. Qualification Requirements - Excellent analytical skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Web / Java technical skill set - Experience with database relational models, stored procedures, and views. Work with DB2 UDB is preferred. - Broad experience with change management processes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Insurance and/or financial industry experience is preferred.
