Job Title: SQL Server DBA Location: CARMEL IN (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY) Duration: 3-6 months Job Description: Responsible for providing Database Design, Administration, Tuning and to a lesser degree Development Services. Also responsible for mentoring others and ensuring adherence to Database Standards, Procedures and Policies. Predominantly responsible for the design, development, accessibility, maintenance, and recoverability of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) in support of software applications. Skills Required: * Proficient in data modeling, including demonstrated use of tools to facilitate database management, life cycle management of data, creation of complex databases (complex relationship between tables), and number of business functions represented. * Demonstrated depth of understanding of primary key numbering schemes (number and variety). * Expertise in SQL as a core language; experience in writing, stored procedures, triggers, and functions. * Experience with SQL Server 2000 and 2005 * Experience with larger databases (in terms of file size, number of concurrent users, and number of rows). * Have had production database maintenance and monitoring experience. * Experience with implementing data architecture standards, policies, and procedures. * Analyzes data requirements, application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schema(s), and then designs, develops, amends, optimizes, and certifies database schema design - as needed - to meet system(s) requirements. * Gather, analyze, and normalize relevant information related to, and from business processes, functions, and operations to evaluate data credibility and determine relevance and meaning. * Experience with Deadlocking and Blocking analysis and remediation. * Execution Plan analysis * Experience with setting up database replication * Query Optimization * Ensure the appropriate design, configuration, integration, and installation of database management system applications. * Understands the methodologies and technologies that depict the flow of data within and between technology systems and business functions/operations. * Identifies opportunities to reduce data redundancy, trends in data uses, and single sources of data. * Maintenance and coordination of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration. * Development of backup and recovery schemes for the database environment and the development and implementation of disaster recovery procedures. * Backup and recovery on RDBMS's. * Designing against logical data models. * Optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost.
