Location: Tarrytown, NY Duration: 6 months + Interview: Phone Screen then Face to Face Description Overview The real time software engineer works with other software engineers under the supervision of a project engineer to enhance and develop real time software for the Immunoassay Systems and to provide customer support for instruments in the field. Responsibilities 1. To develop Real Time Software for the Immunoassay Systems. 2. To be able to quickly ascertain the cause of a real time software problem and to suggest and implement a fix. 3. To provide customer support for engineers in the field and support for R&D testing for software releases. Qualifications A bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering. Demonstrated skill in real time embedded software development. Demonstrated UNIX programming skills. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. It is required that candidate has been a significant contributor for at least one product through entire life-cycle; Must have demonstrated experience in technical leadership. Medical diagnostics industry experience is a plus. Typical Job-Related Experience: 8 - 10 years of total experience with a minimum of 5 years of UNIX Systems programming in C. Knowledge This job requires the following knowledge: Strong C programming skills. Experience in a UNIX/Solaris Multi-threaded programming environment (HP-UX/Linux also a possibility). UNIX/Solaris System Interface Programming. Experience with Real Time embedded programming (RTOS, hardware emulators). Experience with scheduling and optimization techniques (mathematical) is preferred. Experience with SQL. Working knowledge with the Oracle database a plus. Familiarity with processor architecture (Motorola preferred). Working knowledge of X86 or 68K embedded micro-controllers is desirable. Experience with object-oriented designs and UML is a plus.
