The Role This is an end-to-end development role in a fast paced front-office environment. Strong Java skills are essential, as is a pragmatic attitude and ability to work directly with a demanding user group. The role is based in New York and will suit a pragmatic, self starter who has a track record of delivering quality front office trading applications. The person will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of applications, from design and development through to testing, deployment and operation. The person must be comfortable communicating directly with a diverse group of demanding stakeholders that include traders, business sponsors and technology management, whilst working in a geographically distributed team Key Skills Required • Team player, able and enthusiastic in communicating problems and ideas. • Solid understanding of programming fundamentals: algorithms, data-structures. • Demonstrable track record of developing in Java and of OO design patterns. • Knowledge of relational databases and SQL. • Understanding of multi-threaded programming • Comfortable with Agile style development practices • End to End Ownership – demonstrable record of owning a solution from requirements analysis through deployment to initial support • Outstanding interpersonal skills – ability to interact and progress projects with people at all levels in multiple locations • Java Client AND server-side development experience Preferred • Experience of working within a front-office project. • Eclipse RCP • Experience working with Derivative Products, with a strong preference for Equity Derivatives.
