Duration: Assignment most likely will extend into 2012.

Location: Dallas, Texas

Interview Process: Telephonic Screen will be followed by a Face to Face
interview. The face to face interviews with this client are normally
INTENDED to look for soft-skills. 

 

The Program Manager manages the integration and execution of overall Desktop
Computing Technology Refresh 2010 Program. The Desktop Technology Refresh
2010 program is comprised of five major activities: 

Program Administration; Architecture and Engineering; Application Testing,
Integration, and Packaging; Site Deployment; and Transition to Steady State.


The Program Manager leads multifunctional teams to achieve objectives for
operational excellence and ensures that work performed on an assigned
program meets schedule, cost, technical performance, customer satisfaction
and people management requirements, in accordance with American Airlines
SDLC methodology.

Responsible for the execution and integration of Risk Management, Issue
Management, Change Management and Control, Resource Management and
Integrated Work Planning. 

Sets goals, ensures that they are met, and is responsible for continuous
process improvement across organizational lines. 

Exercises judgment in planning and organizing work; 

monitors performance and reports status. 

Uses best business practices to ensure success in areas of responsibility. 

 

Major Ongoing Responsibilities: 

.Responsible for the management of Desktop Computing Technology Refresh 2010
Program and reporting to the Client's Program Sponsor, Managed Service
Provider Program Sponsor, and Executive Steering Committee. 

.Generates Program Plan (narrative document which includes program scope,
objectives, strategy, risk management/mitigation, communication management,
as well as detailed schedule) in accordance with PMO standards. 

.Manages the deliverable items and oversees the program plans. 

.Finalizes and publishes the program roles and responsibilities definition
document 

.Provides executive level status reporting derived from the program
management plan and program schedule to communicate progress of program
deliverables 

.Leads and interacts with functional groups as necessary to define work
breakdown structures/action items and to coordinate assigned projects/tasks
as required to achieve program goals related to schedule, performance and
cost. 

.Ensures that cross-functional reviews are scheduled and conducted
throughout the life cycle process to assess performance to technical
specifications. 

.Ensures that project issues are resolved and reports are placed in the
program file. 

 Ensures that configuration management and change control process are
followed. 

.Generates and distributes appropriate reports to keep management and team
members informed of the status of the assigned programs. 

.Resolves and/or facilitates resolution of problems including identifying
causes to prevent re-occurrence. 

.Performs related functions and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned. 

 

 

Education and Training: 

.Bachelor's Degree in a related fields, or equivalent. 

.PMP certification 

.Position requires comprehensive experience in managing program/project
teams and the delivery of products. 

  Must be skilled at delegation, follow-up, and team building as well as a
history of being able to multi-task and meet multiple project schedules on
time (Typically a minimum of 7 plus years of progressively related Project
Management/Program Management experience) 

.Five plus years of supervisory/people management experience. 

.Has broad multi-disciplinary technical knowledge with expertise in multiple
specialties 

.Must be able to work cooperatively and productively with others 

. Comprehensive evaluation, demonstrated verbal and written communication,
analytical/problem solving, negotiation, interpersonal and presentation
skills are essential 

.The ability to understand and comply with applicable regulations and
Company operating procedures, processes, policies, and rules is also
required. 

.Advanced personal computer skills including spreadsheet skills, word
processing, and other relevant project management applications. 

.Formal academic and/or in-house training in leadership, TQM, Program
Management, and related areas are also preferred.
