DB2 DBA (Mainframe DB2 (don't submit without Db2))
Rate: 50/hr Duration: 6-12 months Location: Philadelphia, PA Interview: Phone followed by F2F (Locals or Tri State candidates only) Have an application running over 3 years. Huge amount of data. Need a long and short term strategy. Relationships with data and tables, reviewing the data model, etc. More of a developer/dba role. Grown up as a developer and recently dba. Need to have the dev skill set to attend design reviews. And identify areas to gain performance. Getting a lot of production dba's resumes, but not really what they are looking for because they don't get the development skills. Development DBA (vs production dba) Duties Utilizing independent judgment and discretion, evaluates and tests potential IT architecture solutions to ensure they meet user needs and requirements. Creates and produces moderately complex IT architecture designs to translate user requirements to solutions. Researches and produces standards documents. Researches future industry trends. Skills Major focus: Mainframe DB2 (don't submit without Db2), SQL application performance, Application DB2 tasks, SDLC Education Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, at least five, typically seven or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT, or the equivalent in education and work experience.
