Title: Teradata DBA. Start: Immediately. End: December 31, 2010 with possibility of extension. Location: Central NJ. Part-Time: Five (5) hours per day. Environment: Teradata 13, but experience with Teradata 12 is acceptable. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Rate $45 /hr on C2C Job Description: Teradata DBA is needed to support development team on a part-time basis. Candidate will be the only DBA at the client. Candidates who are certified in Teradata will be given preference. Scanned image of certification certificate is required. Responsibilities include the following: * Monitoring CPU utilization * Workload analysis o Production, Development and Testing o Tactical Queries vs. Analytical Queries * Teradata Manager utilization to monitor performance * Provide resolution to performance issues * Utilization of Visual Explain * Priority Scheduler * Frequency of Statistics Collection and the freshness of statistics collected * Identification of the most resource intensive jobs and how best to manage those jobs. * Table Compression * Data distribution skew especially on most frequently accessed tables * Index Utilization * User ID classification relative to the most important jobs * Service Level Agreement targets and performance analysis against those targets * Database utility usage and concurrency o Fast loads, Multi-load, Parallel Transporter * Development recommendations to maintain performance gains * Create production support run books for Teradata specific jobs * Create new users, tables and views, etc. * Physical database design for new tables in support of development activities * Ad-hoc participation in design/planning sessions to provide guidance and recommendations to the Vonage development teams. * Ad-hoc coaching of IT staff in the effective use of Teradata tools and database.
