Position: Java SE Developer Location: NY Duration: 6+Months Designs, develops, and implements web-based Java applications to support business requirements. Follows approved life cycle methodologies, creates design documents, and performs program coding and testing. Resolves technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. *Background/Culture of group:* The Athena Development team is responsible for providing a highly performant, multi-asset transactions platform capable of supporting the broad range of the trading lifecycle. Recently acquired by Thomson Reuters, the product is being heavily invested in as it has the potential to be broadly used across the Sales & Trading division. *Scope of position:* The Java SE Developer will play an integral role in the development of advanced test rigs to automate the testing of Athena Trader, a highly flexible, low latency trading platform. Responsibilities will include: · The implementation of unit tests and automated functional tests to improve quality and coverage, bug fixing for existing features and identifying performance bottlenecks · The developer will work closely with staff in other groups to assist in the creation of specifications, test plans, and documentation. *Main responsibilities:* · Reviewing Specifications · Designing and Implementing Automated Tests Analysis; · Resolution of Bugs · Specific test scenraions will include: · Archiving + Recovery · Installers · Algorithms: base (auto) · Contingent Orders (auto) · Price Bands (auto) · Good-for-Seconds (auto) · Speed Bumps (auto) · Order Ownership · Market Maker (auto) · APS Failover *Required skills:* 1. Financial Market Experience 2. At least two years core Java SE development experience 3. Five years total development experience, between Java, C, C++, .NET 4.
