Project Overview Project Purpose The purpose of the BDIS Project is to implement a single structures data management application across the NYSDOT enterprise with a centralized database that improves workflow activities, provides better data consistency, and resolves a number of process issues implicit in the stovepipe nature of the current applications and disparate databases. In an effort to centralize data and data control, NYSDOT has analyzed the existing structure data environment and defined the desired integrated BDIS. The current NYSDOT bridge management system has created the building blocks and established the operational expectations for BDIS. An integrated BDIS will serve approximately 3000 users across the NYSDOT enterprise, and ensure that the inventory and condition information is consistent. The software solution for BDIS is also intended to provide the foundation for an Enterprise Asset Management program, providing eventual expansion of the software solution to other asset classes and enabling consistent approaches to inventory, inspection, and reporting across the agency. Project Objectives The goal of this procurement is to acquire a BDIS software solution that: • Fulfills NYSDOT business requirements for the collection and management of all bridge and large culvert inventory, inspection, related data, and functions • Migrates existing data from the current NYSDOT applications used to manage bridge and large culvert data • Trains NYSDOT system users and support staff in the use and maintenance of the Bridge Data Information System • Employs proven hardware and software technology that ensures data security, meets defined performance standards, is supportable for the term of this contract, and is cost effective to maintain and operate • Serves NYSDOT’s current needs for bridges and large culverts, and provides a foundation on which additional asset classes can be added as needed • Provides a foundation for Enterprise Asset Management for NYSDOT Skills, education, certifications, experience The Oracle DBA shall have a minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience (preferably 8 years) with database modeling, design, implementation and tuning.
