*Position:* * **Senior Application Developer/Software Designer* with an
emphasis on Database applications, SQL Performance Analysis and Tuning,
Implementation, Trouble Shooting and Support; Perform migration of
applications/databases between various operating systems, programming
languages, and database systems; perform trouble shooting of production
problems, identify resolutions and implement solutions.
*Responsibilities:*
- Assist application teams in their porting and performance tuning of
enterprise mission critical web applications from WebSphere/AIX/IBM DB2 UDB/
to JBOSS/Linux/MySQL platform while migrating to a new data center.
- Quickly assimilate application code, stored procedures, databases and
determine best method for conversion from IBM DB2/UDB to MySQL databases.
Explain approach, benefits and draw backs to approach.
- Work under tight deadline, long hours as needed, support during
migration tests, dry run events, and launch weekends.
- Migrate complex transactional Databases from UDB to MySQL (5.1
preferred with innodb plugin).
- Identify performance problems and their resolution; suggest proper
configuration values if changes are needed; tune SQL statements and table
indexes in MySQL.
- Document approach, workplan, architecture, tasks, changes using any
required tool or format.
- Follow IT General Controls for audit and security purposes.
*Operating System Platforms: * UDB, Linux, Windows, other UNIX
*Databases*: DB2 UBD, MySql
*Web Application Server Environment:* JBOSS, WebSphere
*Languages*: C, C++, Java, JDBC, UNIX Shell programming, Perl scripting
*Experience/Skills:*
- Overall Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience and knowledge of MySQL databases (performance
tuning / optimization / load balancing) and database architecture.
- Understanding of differences between DB2 UDB and MySQL RDBMS
- experience with migrating applications/databases between various
operating systems, programming languages, and database systems
- Extensive experience trouble shooting production problems,
identifying resolutions and implementing solutions
- Hands on working experience with tuning complex SQL statements
- Ability to effectively facilitate migration of data structure and
data and provide post migration application assessment and support
- Experience designing and implementing RDBMS applications
- Experience working with large relational databases, performance
tuning of web applications with data base queries.
- Working knowledge of Java, JDBC, and Eclips IDE.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Development of User Defined Database Functions is a plus.
