*Title:Data Modeller* Location:Bethlahem, PA Duration:6+mths *Position Objective: (Write a brief statement regarding the objective of the position. Please define your acronyms.)* This position is key in understanding, documenting and maintaining data environment for the Customer Experience Program. This position entails the following activities: Develop, document and maintain logical and physical data models for a multi-phase development project. Analyze enterprise and application logical and physical data models and associated business rules; Develop data migration strategies for retiring legacy systems into modern information systems; Analyze and design data sizing and scaling approaches, distribution alternatives and trade-offs; Coordinate across organizations as required to support data integration efforts; Support and apply data standardization policies; Support related modeling and simulation activities; and Other related activities, as assigned. *Major Opportunities and Decisions*: (Describe the more difficult and/or complex challenges or opportunities and decisions faced in doing work, improving processes or meeting customer needs. Where must position focus to be successful?) · Data Modeling - Understand the current data environment through both logical and physical data models. · Metadata – Understand and manage metadata data related to the data environment, interfaces, data mapping, data and models. · Model Management – Version and configuration manage data models so that they are in synch with development and production environments. *Competencies/Skills:* Logical and Physical Data Modeling in diverse technical environments and industries. Familiarity through use with metadata capture and management. Familiarity through use with disciplined project management structures and systems development lifecycle. Familiarity through use with the complete solution development life cycle. · Excellent non-technical communication (written and verbal) skills at all levels of the organization. · Creative problem-solving skills. · Ability to work independently or as part of a project team. · Ability to self-management tasks to meet delivery targets. Ability to indirectly lead though influencing others. Expert-level data sourcing and data mapping skills. *Knowledge:* Multi-line Insurance domain knowledge Relational concepts Data Warehouse concepts ETL concepts Proficient in data modeling tools -- preferably Erwin. Strong RDBMS knowledge. Metadata management software suites. *Specific technology:* · ERwin · Informatica · UDB · Oracle · SQL Server · DB2 *Education:* · BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. *Experience:* 7+ Years of IT industry experience, with 5+ years experience as Data Architect. Successfully developed and maintained logical/physical data models consisting of 75+ entities/tables. Captured and managed metadata on 2+ projects. Full Life Cycle Project participation on 3+ projects. Developed relational data models. Significant experience interfacing with both customers and management.
