Duration: 6 plus Months Rate: market Candidates must have a strong background in Weblogic and/or Websphere. Ideally the candidate will be strong in both as this team works with both. The team is looking for a bright and technically strong candidate with excellent communication skills. Also, the manager is looking for the candidate to sit in the Chicago location. Please include the following questions and answers on the first page of each resume presented: 1) What versions of Weblogic Server/WebSphere Application Server do you have experience with? 2) What experience do you have working with load balancing solutions? 3) What web servers have you worked with? The Middleware Engineer serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for web and application server technologies within the Securities and Wealth Management domain. The Middleware Engineer leads efforts to analyze requirements, design, evaluate, test, and implement new systems and services. The specific role includes but is not limited to: • Work closely with IT design and development teams, users, and vendors to define, implement, and maintain the best business solution. • Ensure that the application and web development environment is properly set up, maintained and accessible. • Work with the application developers to design, enhance, support, and deploy applications. • Architect, install, configure, tune, monitor and upgrade the application and web server infrastructure • Provide daily administration duties for the application environments including support for developer tools. • Monitor systems performance and usage trends to do performance tuning and capacity planning. • Maintain and create full system documentation as part of disaster recovery procedures. This includes ensuring that all existing systems have up-to-date recovery documents, creating proper recovery and configuration documentation with each new system on server installed, testing the recovery procedures at failover sites, and improving the recovery plans and systems documentation. • Ensure proper security infrastructure and configuration is in place and maintained. • Troubleshoot and provides service for support requests, incidents and problems. • Develop, monitor, and update application availability and performance metrics. • Utilize and update the incident tracking database for each trouble ticket. • Provide 24/7 on-call support for system problems. • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for Business Partners. • Provide guidance to Development teams in creating robust application architecture. This includes customizing/tuning existing web infrastructure to suit the needs of the development group. • Provide “Best Practices” and good coding techniques to the development groups as required by the application. • Provide a custom scripted interface for various life-cycle/configuration tasks that may not be available out of the box. Specific technical skills include, but not limited to: Weblogic Administrators • Proficient in the administration of WebLogic Portal 10 • Proficient in the administration of WebLogic Server version 9.2 and 10 • Proficient in administration of Apache HTTPD 2.x and SunOne Webserver • Certification in WebLogic Server Administration a plus WebSphere Administrators • Proficient in the administration of WebSphere Application Server ND versions 6.1. • Proficient in administration of IBM IHS and SunOne web server on Solaris. • Understanding of security concepts and their application on the WAS environment. • Experience and/or knowledge of WAS ND 6.1 and WSADMIN scripting. • IBM certification in WebSphere Application Server Administration a plus. Additional Skills • Solid analytical and troubleshooting skills.(Unix, Networking, DMZ, Firewalls, J2EE, Web and Application Servers) • Thorough understanding of Java/J2EE concepts (JDBC, JMS/MQ, JSP, EJB, JNDI, etc&) required. • Ability to evaluate, install, test, configure, maintain and monitor performance of and troubleshoot J2EE applications. • Strong Unix systems administration experience.(Solaris, Linux, AIX) • UNIX scripting skills.
