Duties include database installations, migrations, trouble shooting, performance tuning, capacity planning, backups, disaster recovery and monitoring of assigned databases. Assists in administration and troubleshooting FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Database installations, upgrades on IBM / AIX , Oracle Enterprise Linux platforms * data guard set up * OEM Grid Control setup and management * *Oracle 10g / 11g ASM ( Automated Storage Management ) ** *Oracle 10g / 11g RAC installations*, administration and support * Extensive hands on experience using Oracle RMAN and Veritas Netbackup * Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the applicable databases. * Works with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance. * Proactively monitors database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime. * Provides trend analysis to the application support team to enable informed decisions regarding resource management. * Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades. * Responsible for implementation and release of database changes * Performs server/application audits and health checks. * Tunes databases, application servers and applications to ensure optimum use of resources. * Institutes Operation Procedures to ensure the clients operating environment is monitored to help meet SLAs. * Ensures the database architecture is able to meet the client*s ongoing needs. ** Thanks!!
