Position: Linux Administrator Location: NJ Duration: 3 Months(Extension into next year if applicable) Rate: $40/hr * * *Requirements and responsibilities:* - Reliable self-starter with predictable attendance - Excellent communication and documentation, analytical skills - Strong shell scripting, Perl development, RPM builds - Provide system administration, operational support, problem resolution, and perform hardware and software installations and upgrades as required on zSeries, xSeries, pSeries. - Design, implementation, testing and documentation of new and old infrastructure components, services and enhancements. - Application and System health and performance monitoring including responding to production issues and capacity planning and sizing. - Demonstrated drive and persistence to get to the bottom of an issue or to complete a task when confronted with obstacles - Team player and ability to work in a fast-paced environment - Keen eye for process and automation improvements and ability to discern issue patterns with performance, reliability, or data integrity - Working knowledge of a some of the following technologies: openldap, nfs, ntp, dns, sendmail, kickstart/cobbler, dhcp, yum, subversion, lvs, clustering, server virtualization (kvm, vmware), opennms - Demonstrated troubleshooting experience *Desired Knowledge and Skills:* - 5 + years of experience working in Information Technology - Five to seven years system administration experience on Red Hat Linux platforms with some AIX experience.
