Title: Java/J2EE Architect Location: Richmond, VA Duration: 3 months ext Previous Govt client experience a huge plus Our Client - Application Development department is currently recruiting for a Senior Software Architect. In this role the candidate will be responsible for designing major enhancements to existing software, including but not limited to, redesigning existing database schema and adding interface capabilities such as XML, Web Services, Business Intelligence and Enterprise Service Bus. This individual may also provide programming support on the major re-architecture efforts. Job Summary: Works independently to design new software products or major enhancements to existing software. Will be mainly responsible for creating, defining, and choosing a software framework for the application ensuring the framework is within accepted FRS standards. Also, has the ability to recognize potential reuse in the organization or in the software application. Will possess the ability to sub-divide a complex application, during the design phase, into smaller, more manageable pieces; grasp the functions of each component, understand the interactions and dependencies among the components and be able to communication these concepts to developers. This individual acts as the highest level technical expert on the team and is responsible for technical completion of the project. The architect also works collaboratively with the department's Senior Application Architect to ensure that software designs fit within the overall application architecture strategies. The architect will typically be embedded within a development team but their architectural expertise will also be shared across the enterprise as needed. Qualifications/Experience: * 8+ years of enterprise-level J2EE programming experience * Proven software architecture experience including component design, integration, security, testing, performance tuning, data models and work flow * Experience in implementing new technologies * Experience working on projects of moderate to high complexity * Excellent oral and written communication * Proven ability to write clear and concise technical documents * Proven ability to be complete tasks or project assignments with minimal supervision * Must be adaptable, flexible and work well in a team environment * Practical experience and knowledge of the following technologies/principles: o Java: Servlets, JSP, EJB, Struts, o SQL Development: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, stored procedures, triggers, PL/SQL o Application Servers: WebSphere, WebLogic o Web Services: XML o Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) o Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Preferred Qualifications/Experience: * Certified J2EE Architect. * Deep experience in porting mainframe applications to J2EE platform.
